COMMON QUESTIONS
How long are the appointments?
Appointments are typically 50 minute sessions. Family therapy sessions can be extended beyond an hour when requested.
Do you see people in person?
Yes, I see people in person in my Downtown Petaluma office. I am also available for video and telephone sessions throughout the state of California.
Are my appointments covered by insurance?
I do not directly accept insurance. I can provide you with a detailed invoice that you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement when allows.
People also also use Flex Spending Acounts (FSA) and Health Spending Accounts (HSA) when available to them.
I accept cash, check, and Venmo.
How much do you charge for an appointment?
My standard fee is $225 for a 50 minute session. If you have previously been seen by me, please reach out to me directly.
Who do you work with or what problems do you see?
I can work comfortably with most people and most problems. I work with adults, families and teens, with mood, worries, life and relationship stress. If you have questions about if I could be a good fit, please ask.
I do not do court appointed or mandated therapy and/or psychological assessments.
What is unique about working with you?
I work from a positive, value based perspective that honors your hopes, dreams, and intention for your life. I avoid pathological language or thin interpretations of people. This makes therapy about what is unique about you!
How long does a “episode of care” typically last?
This a good but difficult question to answer generically. It depends of a couple of factors such as the goal for therapy and the intrenchment of the problem a person might be coming to therapy with.
People will largely feel some “relief” within the first 5 sessions. This might feel complete for some people and other people might be interested in exploring more about themselves and their desires for life. Problems usually are indicators of what people truly care about. Focusing on relief sometimes misses the opportunity for growth and a deeper connection with what matters most to us which leads to a more personally meaningful story.
When working with me, we will routinely check in about how the work is going and adjust as needed. Therapy is a dynamic process. Things change (hopefully!) so it is important to be adaptive.
